⚠️ Step 1 (Critical): Complete overseas Chinese/non-overseas Chinese identity verification at the county/district overseas Chinese affairs office Most families who travel to the US for short-term childbirth will be identified as non-overseas Chinese, and only need to obtain the Non-Overseas Chinese Identity Confirmation Letter.
Step 2: Submit the household registration application at the local police station, with the following required materials: 1️⃣ Non-Overseas Chinese Identity Confirmation Letter (obtained in Step 1) 2️⃣ The child’s Chinese passport or Chinese Travel Document 3️⃣ Entry and exit travel documents used by the parents when returning to China 4️⃣ Parents’ household registration book (submit one copy if only one parent holds local hukou) 5️⃣ Parents’ resident ID cards 6️⃣ Marriage certificate of one parent 7️⃣ Original foreign birth certificate 8️⃣ Chinese translation of the birth certificate (must be issued by a legally registered translation agency) 9️⃣ Consular authentication or notarization 🔟 One 2-inch color ID photo with white background
