Do You Still Need Your Degree Translated After CSCSE Verification?
Since 2018 the CSCSE no longer requires translation-company documents for degree verification — but Chinese employers still do. Here is when returning graduates actually need certified degree translations.

What changed on 1 Jan 2018
Since 1 January 2018, the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) no longer requires a translation company's Chinese translation in degree-verification applications — they handle translation internally. If verification is all you need, apply directly at zwfw.cscse.edu.cn.
So when do you need a translation?
When you apply for jobs. Chinese employers and public institutions still require a Chinese translation of your diploma in onboarding paperwork. The real-world sequence is:
- Complete CSCSE verification after returning to China
- Then have your degree, diploma and transcript translated — for employment or further study
When ordering, give us the official Chinese major name printed on your CSCSE certificate so the translation matches it exactly.
